Digital signature explanation
A digital signature on a Windows installer ties the file to a code-signing certificate issued to a publisher. When Windows or your AV product shows publisher details, compare the name to Piriform or Gen Digital branding you expect. A valid signature reduces the chance of a casually modified binary, but it is not a substitute for getting the file from a known source, and certificates can be abused if stolen. Always combine signature checks with size, version, and source confirmation.
